An Indiana University mfa coursework project to promote the Hamilton Wood Type Museum. The cover and each spread was laser-printed on Mohawk superfine paper. I used various wood type fonts and sizes for letterpressing the cover and each right-facing spread to achieve a varnished-typeface appearance to give it an authentic feel. The 10-page booklet was perfect bound by hand.
Hello, I'm Dave Harper. I'm a graphic designer residing in Newburgh, Indiana. I have been creating graphic design for web, print and motion projects since 2002. My experience ranges from having worked in an small advertising agency as a web and graphic designer, to working in a large web team environment as an interactive art director. I hold an MFA in graphic design from Indiana University. Currently, I am an instructor of visual communication, and work as an independent web and graphic designer.
Besides my professional life, I am a husband to Heather; a father to Lucy, Truman, and Penelope.
Graphic design is: Communicating a message, simplifing complicated information or ideas, and solving problems. Design is not tied to a specific medium, only to that form that elevates the content and is appropriate for the message.
